getting OFF the hamster wheel...

... i admit it, i was in a BAD mood today - it was one of those #$%!#$ moods where it doesn't seem like i could catch up on all of our orders, emails and such. it was like no matter what i did, i couldn't shake it. i consumed a massive amount of chocolate, played with baby noah and even took a short nap but i couldn't shake that mood.

i think one of the reasons i was in a bad mood was b/c i hate the fact that we can't be perfect - or i can't be perfect in the MR sense. when you ship out hundreds of orders a week and thousands of products, there is bound to be one or two orders where things are missing or dented. and as much as i would love to hear that our products never have problems, they do sometimes. and deb was telling me when we see emails like that - it makes her cringe and her blood pressure rise - it does for me too.

you never want to hear that you have "disappointed" someone. did we mean to? no, we are human. and when we make mistakes we try to fix it. sometimes that means me making 3 trips to the post office and mailing something myself but we do it b/c we want to be honest suppliers. in the end, we are only human and i have to accept that.

so enough about the bad karma, i decided the only way to shake this was to go for a run and to pray. i didn't run long but i did do a series of 200 yard sprints up and down the sidewalk outside our house this evening. and i said a prayer and i wanted God to remind me that i have so much to be thankful for - b/c i do.

and here i am - i feel a lot better! and i am ready to start again. and i am happy to also say we found out that deb won HM in the HOF contest! yay!

BUT before i do, as promised, here is the RAK winner - s.patel ! congrats, please email me at info @ mayaroad.com

and also to celebrate the mood lift, i put together a smaller RAK and picked another winner:
Mel Nunn - congrats to you.

and finally if you would like to see some inspiration for some of our new products, check it out at our MR design team blog!

Thanks so much for the RAK Caroline! Also congrats to Deb on the HM.

I think you guys are great and I have never had any problems with products, only that I can't get enough of them over here! Just remember you can't control who handles the goods once it leaves your office. delivery drivers are brutal with loads!

Poop happens C! If people can't understand that then they need to reconsider being in the retail business. Your CS rocks! Keep up the good work!!!!

I am so with you on this one. NO ONE is perfect but you ladies are AWESOME when there is a problem. I try to be that way as well. It's ALL about service.

BTW, you didn't mention sex. Did you try that as well? ;-)

thank you so much for the RAK! I jumped up and down a little when I read the post this morning (which I'm sure the people in the apartment under me were thrilled about at 6am :p). I am so excited to play and create with all the goodies in the box!

it must be so frustrating to plan well on your end and have things go wrong somewhere along the way with the products. though it is out of your hands when it leaves your warehouse, you end up being responsible for calming down angry people who center their energies on you rather than on the fact that things happen and it'll be okay. at the end of the day, there is no controlling those things (or those people), and it sounds like you do everything you can to make customers happy. sorry that it brings you down, though!

off to send you an e-mail now. thanks again!

GIANT HUGS to you both! You can't control EVERYTHING even though you both think that you can. ;) Just remember that you have FAB products and we're all waiting to get our grubby hands on them! :)

Hi~! This is a little late in coming, but I wanted to say thank you for issuing the challenge to use up old supplies to scrap. Can you believe that having been in a rut for the past few weeks, I actually whipped out 20+ layouts because of your challenge, 10 alone on Friday night??? Even though I didn't post any of them, the important thing was that I created them. So thank you. And you know what, don't even worry about those 1 or 2 fluke incidents. You can't possibly guarantee that there's no bumps and bruises during delivery, and the fact is, consumers love your products. so that's the most important thing~!!! thanks again for the challenge. ~Tracy
