productivity and a RAK!

one good thing about going to tradeshows is that i am often inspired to keep scrapbooking! to use up things that i have on hand so i can purchase more (haha!) and i hate to let even little bits of stuff go to waste. one thing i do have a lot of is the paper sticker tape. i was determined this weekend to use up an entire roll. heck, i probably have like 25 other rolls left but if i could use up a roll on a LO, that would be awesome. so this is what i did:

i love how it turned out and how the random pattern of the tape created a cool star that totally frames the picture! so simple but so effective at the same time. what do you have a lot of that you could turn into a pretty cool LO?

and being the thrift i am, i also don't tend to throw stuff away. donate yes. share yes but throw no. so i found this club scrap paper i think i bought like 4- 5 years ago and even though it was like "tuscany paper", i turned it into a great LO here:

i also got to use some of our new sealed with a kiss clear stamps on this LO and i love how it turned out!

and finally a RAK (as promised before). i couldn't find my stash of "maya roadie" stickers (some roadie must have stolen it - LOL but i did find a nice tin and filled it with some new MR goodies.

there are sheers, velvet ribbon, journey east ribbons and more! i will add more as i continue to unpack from the show.

if you want to win, you must post here under before tuesday morning AND you must do the following:

1. post a comment but not anon

2. and in this post , i want to hear some questions you might have of me about anything from MR to anything else. i want to answer your questions.

and that is it!

GOOD LUCK!

love the creation!

what are the approximate steps in getting a product to market? out of all the ideas that you come up with for a show, how many never make it for one reason or another?

Lovely pages! Saw them at 2ps too :)

My question is after you had your first great idea, who did you approach to manufacture your items? Was it a scrapbooking or crafts manufacturer? Who did you even know who to contact?

Thanks!

I love scrapbooking scraps!!!! They're so fun and so freeing!! Sometimes when I have a big piece of something I tend to not want to cut into it! LOL! (yes, I'm a hoarder!)

And one of my favorite things to hoard is pattern paper!!! Is that something that could be in Maya Road's future??? (not hoarding... just manufaturing it! LOL!)

I too hoard product - you never know when that paper or embellishment might finally be needed!! My question is this - what are your essentials to scrap with ie what products/techniques/colours etc do you find keep turning up on your creations??

love the tape idea on the LO...im admitting that i have a few rolls of that stuff too (heheheheh)

my question is
Have you thought about making MR Kits...a few chipboard, a binder book, some velvet ribbon, a stamp or two...all kept in your signature Tin...I think it would be a WINNER...what do you think?

Great layout Caroline, as always :)

My question sounds simliar to one before but I'm wondering about that 'first break' - what was your first product and/or step you took that you knew this company was becoming a reality?

How are you inspired to create your designs? There is already so much out there but you keep coming up with new amazing product. Pretty great!

Also, I would love if your product was in a store in Maine . . . just a minor wish. I am not a big fan of shopping online because I love to see in person first but I always have to buy Maya Road stuff online.

your layouts are very beautiful. They are truly inspiring.

Here's my question: How in the world do you continue to stay fresh with your ideas? I cannot imagine how difficult it must be to constantly come up with fresh and new things...and yet, you amaze us time and again with gorgeous and creative products...which we love. Please never lose your mo-jo.

Love all the layouts!

My question (kind of random) - if you could only scrap in 3 colors, what would they be? (I am partial to dark brown, pinks and reds right now, personally)

I have a bunch of questions, but I'll stick to this one for now:
Do you ever take a real day off? And I mean "real" - not stressing about not working for a day! :)

Love the layouts, C! I'm amazed how you find time to do it all!

My question is this:
When are you comin' to Ontario?!?!

FABULOUS layouts!!!

My question:
How far in advance do you have to think of a product & get it into production? For an example, the NEW FABULOUS stuff you had at CHA - when did you have to work on that?

Awesome layouts! I love what you did with the tape.

I have 2 questions:
1. Where do you see Maya Road in 5 years?

2. What is your favorite way to spend Valentines day?

:)

I am totally in love with that stamp and can't wait till it hits here in Australia.

My question is would you consider opening up a store in Australia? Cause I know I would be in there day and night, a permanent squatter.

Since you and Deb seem to live a good bit away from each other(?), how do you collaborate and manage your business? And do you do lots of research to come up with your unique and new products, or do you just *know* what we all can't live without?
